Workers of the Middle-Earth, UNITE! is a delicious story that sees no other then Vladimir Lenin (and later Lew Trotsky) ISOTed to said Middle Earth, where they promptly start a communist revolution - first in Sauron's turf, but later on even Gondor starts to see it's share of "down with the hereditary nobility".
The highlight is Sakura killing a Ringwraith, with its ring slowly corrupting her in the last few chapters. Her only chance of getting home? He was not only an essayist and reviewer in alternate history circles, but also a bit of a Tolkien fan on the side. Most of the draw to it comes from the fact that the SI totally derails the entire canon plot through her interactions with the other characters, accidentally causes what appears to be the beginnings of a Maiar civil war, and pushes the characters into trying to improve themselves and their situations due to the changed circumstances. It's one of those few well written Self-Inserts, and yes, I do recommend it.
